How the photos on this site are taken.

Every job record on this site shows the surface as we found it and as we left it. The photographs are taken on a phone, on site, by the person doing the work. They are not staged, lit or retouched, and that is deliberate.

Same spot, same light

The after shot is taken from the same position as the before shot, at the same angle, in the same light where the job allows it. Reflections are the honest test of a polish: if the window frame reflects sharply in the after shot and not in the before, the surface has changed. If the light has moved between shots because the job ran into the afternoon, the record says so.

What is not done

No filters. No adjustment of colour, contrast or sharpness. No cropping to hide a corner that did not come up. The frames on the jobs page are the originals, resized for the web and nothing else. Where a repair is visible from close up, the record shows it from close up.

What you can check

Look at the reflections, not the stone. A polished surface reflects edges sharply; a dull one blurs them. Look at the same fixed object in both frames, a tap, a window, a light fitting, and compare how it reflects. Look for the masking tape: it is usually still on in the after shots because they are taken before pack-up, which is its own kind of evidence.

Consent

We ask at quote stage whether a job can appear here. Records identify the suburb, the stone, the surface and the month. They do not identify the house or the owner. A no is fine, and an anonymised record with no suburb is offered as the middle option. Anything published can be taken down on request.

Why bother

Because every stone restoration business in Sydney claims to be the best, and none of them show their work in a way you can check. The trades that get let into expensive homes are the ones other people vouch for. This is our way of letting the work vouch for itself.
